SERIGRAPHY ( Fine Art Screenprinting)
All of Mr. Boland's serigraphs are his original concepts and designs. All work is done by hand from beginning concept to the completed piece. This includes rough concepts, finished composition, color planning and separations, screen making, ink mixing, the printing process, and the final proofing. An oil base paint is used and printed on heavyweight acid free paper. All serigraphs are printed in limited edition.
" Fine silk screen reproduction is not a mechanical process. It stands between printing and easel painting and requires an artist's sensitive care as well as more experimental time than the average commercial printer can afford. The subtle blendings, the free use of transparencies, and the infinite number of effects can be rendered sympathetically only by a true artist, preferably the one whose artistic creation is involved."
From " Silk Screen Stenciling as a Fine Art" by Biegeleisen and Cohn.
